Using novel optoelectronics and signal processing techniques, Cobalt transforms a standard single-mode telecommunications fiber into an array of thousands of virtual acoustic sensors. Cobalt monitors each of these simultaneously and performs signature categorization to determine the type of activity at each location. When a threat is identified, Cobalt displays its location (to within 10 metres [33 ft]) on a representative map, plan or aerial photograph.
